Interior Refresh – Flagship Location | Edwards, CO
Smiling Moose has been a Rocky Mountain staple since first opening their doors in the Vail Valley in 2003. We were tasked with refreshing the interior of their first and flagship location in Edwards, CO in 2017. The fast-casual marketplace had long caught up with the initially innovative sandwich concept and the brand was in need of an interior overhaul to match their bold, flavor packed menu. The original location in Edwards was drab in comparison to their flavor-forward menu items and we needed to refresh the interior to better reflect the taste bud igniting line up of sandwiches, salads and wraps.

After an extensive, deep dive into the brand we created a Mood Board utilizing rugged textures and materials, bold colors and local icons to reflect the roots of the Rocky Mountain based company.

We created real world, conceptual renderings of the space so that the Smiling Moose executive team could visualize what the new space would look like after the interior refresh. These before-and-after renderings would provide the context in which we would choose our new materials and finishes for the new retail space. At both entrances, abstract trail maps were designed and installed for the two closest ski resorts respectively, Vail and Beaver Creek. Along with the addition of reclaimed wood and bold pops of the brand’s color yellow, these new treatments would help provide a whole new look and feel to the 15 year old concept. Newly designed magnetic menu boards, interior marketing collateral and messaging furthered a modular aspect to the brand that would allow the leverage of Limited Time Offer promotions and on-the-fly brand updates.
Our work was showcased in the “Vail Valley Home” magazine as a successful before-and-after piece in the local business community.
